Delicious Detroit-style Pizza, Right Here in ABQ
If you’re not a pizza connoisseur, you might think that a pizza is just a pizza, but that’s not so. There are distinctive types of pizza. Ask any Chicago deep dish fan whether deep dish and a New York slice are the same food, and they’ll scoff at you before lauding the chunky, cheesy slices that are characteristic of Chicago Deep Dish. So too, there are Detroit-style pizza devotees who praise the thick, rectangular, layered slices with crispy edges called a “Frico.” Enter Thicc Pizza Co. and the brilliant chefs behind it—Seth Beckley and Felicia Meyer, pizza makers of all sorts (just check out their work at Hawt Pizza Co. for proof of that). But their newest (and most sumptuous) pizza creation? Fat pies like the ones they craft at Thicc.
The Detroit-style pizzas at Thicc are crafted with hand-made, hand-stretched slow rise dough. Cooked out of a tiny kitchen (only 300 square feet to work with!), every Thicc fat pie is the same size—8” x 11” rectangles cut into six square slices. They’re perfect for sharing with a friend or your kids, but be careful—these pizzas are tasty enough that you’re going to want to eat it all yourself.
With all non-GMO ingredients, Thicc’s pizza is indulgent, but not expensive. As pizza artisans, the folks behind Thicc have strong pizza opinions. As they say on their website, “We do NOT put anchovies on our pizzas, they are an abomination,” and “People who do not believe pineapple belongs on pizza are not to be trusted.” They’ve crafted inventive pies of all kinds, like the Yo, Adrian!, with Thicc cheese blend, garlic crema, thin sliced ribeye, mushrooms, green chile, arugula, and a side of yellow hots. Or the G.O.A.T., which is packed with Boar’s Head serrano chorizo, caramelized onions, Boar’s Head crispy bacon, goat cheese crumbles, Mike’s Hot Honey, and arugula. Don’t worry, though—if branching out isn’t your thing, there’s always classic margherita, cheese, or pepperoni to savor instead.
Hot, hot chicken—any way you like it!
One of the other amazing options at 505 Food Hall is Kūkri, which serves up tempting fried chicken that’s hot enough for Burque palates, but offers a refreshing change from our usual red and green chile options. Lovingly breaded in a proprietary Tikka-style, curry-infused spice blend, this hot chicken is the real deal. Brought to you by the folks behind the incredible Tikka Spice, Kukri does hot chicken in all of the ways—hot chicken tenders, hot chicken sandwiches, hot chicken salads and loaded fries.
And about the spice level: if you want your hot chicken “insanely hot,” that’s one of six spice levels you can choose to coat your juicy chicken. For the faint of heart, like children, or friends of hot chicken fiends who might want a little less kick to their cluck, Kūkri offers “wimpy” or “mild” choices, with “wimpy” being the closest to a naked chicken tender that you’ll get at the hot chicken spot. Most customers opt for Medium or Hot, but if you’re feeling bold, you could take a chance with the Extra Hot option. At every spice level, Kukri’s chicken is flavorful and filling, and served with your choice of 5 sauces: Kukri sauce, honey mustard aioli, green chile ranch, hot honey sauce, or buffalo sauce.
Whether you’re a hot chicken fan or you simply have to have a great Detroit-style pizza, 505 Food Hall on Central has you covered. And with other scrumptious options like cheeseburgers, tacos, ramen, sandwiches, and more, 505 Food Hall is sure to become your go-to dining destination of choice.
